A Study of the Relationship between the Nurse¢¥s Religious Characteristics and Spiritual Nursing Intervention


Abstract
This study was done to compare the relationship of the nurse¢¥s religious characteristics and the level of spiritual nursing intervention. The subjects for this study were 191 nurses of 5 general hospitals in Inchon, by use of the percentile, Mean, SD., t-test, ANOVA.
The results of this study was as follows.
1. The level of spiritual nursing intervention was a mean of 3.108 out of a possible score of 5 and the item of "Be Understand" showed the most response. (Mean 4.031)
2. The variables of the nurse¢¥s religious characteristics were statistically significant differences in the level of spiritual nursing intervention. Significant variables were Religion (F: 3.2755, P < 0.05), World after death: existence or not (F: 7.7318, P < 0.001), Habitual reading Bible (F: 14.2646, P < 0.001), Habitual Pray (F: 14.1082, P < 0.001), Religious affection of life (F: 8.2988, P < 0.001), Experiences of evangelism (T: 4.67, P < 0.001), Presence at Church (F: 11.1346, P < 0.001), Experiences of group bible study (T: 3.54, P < 0.001). Attending experiences of spiritual nursing seminar or workshop (T: 5.34, P 0.001). Importance of satisfying the patient¢¥s spiritual needs (F: 5.9514, P < 0.001).
3. It is statistically significant differences in providing special spiritual nursing intervention that "Beginning time of religious life" (F: 2.4265, P < 0.05) and "Whether the nurse had learned spiritual nursing as a curricular lesson or not (T: 2.25, P < 0.05).
4. The factors of spiritual nursing intervention difficulty were in order ¢¥Two busy¢¥ (27.4%)", "Lack of faith (22.5%)" "Lack of knowledge (17.7%)
